Dogs that do not cause allergies

If you’ve come this far, it’s probably because you’re allergic to dogs and you’re looking forward to sharing your life with one. But… is this possible? Of course! Not only are there measures you can take to reduce or control this allergic reaction, but there are also some dog breeds that do not cause allergies, known as hypoallergenic, that will make everything much easier.

Before telling you about the dog breeds that do not cause allergy, take a look at our article of alergia a los perrosIn it you will find the cause of this immunological alteration, the symptoms it produces and the different solutions. In it you will get the information you need to solve all your doubts.

Keep in mind that there is no scientific evidence that certifies that “x” breeds are 100% hypoallergenic, but there are dogs that produce less allergy than others.

Which dogs do not cause allergies?

Hypoallergenic breeds are simply those that produce less dander and shed less hair. Dander proteins are the main cause of allergy in dogs, not the hair itself, as is often thought. So, in reality, the allergens are found in the skin of dogs. These proteins can also be found in saliva, urine or sebaceous glands.

Just because a dog is considered hypoallergenic does not mean that it cannot cause any reaction (whether in the form of a rash, irritation, sneezing or itchy eyes). Allergy-free dogs are on this list because they secrete fewer allergens than other breeds, thus reducing symptoms and the likelihood of reaction.

Generally, the dog breeds that shed the least hair are the ones that cause the least allergies, since they do not distribute the flaking of the skin through the air. Therefore, in the list you will find hairless dogs (Peruvian dog or Chinese Crested), dogs that do not shed hair (Bichons or Poodles) and others that, directly, do not produce dandruff (such as the American hairless Terrier). There are also some that have the same hair pH as humans, such as the Yorkshire and the Border Collie.

Don’t forget that each person and each dog is different, as is the degree or intensity of allergies. It is possible that some of the breeds listed below do not cause allergies to some people, but they do to others.
